According to CalRecycle, It is estimated that millions of mattresses and box springs reach the end of their lives in California every year. The bulky nature of mattresses and the lack of affordable, convenient recycling options has resulted in significant illegal dumping costs to local jurisdictions throughout the state. Fortunately, used mattresses are highly recyclable (between 80-90 percent of each mattress by weight), and certain components such as steel and polyurethane have positive market value.
Here are the mattress recycling options we offer:
FAIRMEAD
Mattress Recycling is FREE at the Fairmead Landfill for Madera County residents through the Bye Bye Mattress program. Mattresses and box springs must be clean (no soiling), dry, and free of pests. Pillows, Mattress Toppers, Cots, Water Beds, Sleeping Bags, etc. will not be accepted for recycling through this program.

Residents of Madera County in elevated areas can drop off mattresses and box springs at the North Fork Transfer Station. For free disposal, please visit the Fairmead Landfill.
